Here is a quick and easy rag quilt table runner. You sew these "sandwich" squares together with seams exposed and then clip the edges for a raggy effect. Super easy! Can be made to match any table, for any season. We decided to make a fun Spring Time Table Runner with a Citrus Theme.
Directions:
- Cut your fabric into 8 inch squares. You can mix and match and use all sorts of prints. We used three prints and one flannel for the backing. You can do more or less, depending on what you prefer. We used a citrus fruit print for our main print - 10 squares. We used a green and a yellow coordinating print as our accent colors - 3 squares each. For the backing we used a yard of lime green - 16 squares.
- Place your backing fabric right side down and your top fabric right side
up and stitch an "X" on it. This is your "sandwich".

- Pin one sandwich to another sandwich. Sew across with a 1 inch seam allowance.
Your seams will show, the back will be smooth.

- After you have your squares sewn together you can now sew the rows together.
You will leave all seams exposed and you can force down the sewn seams as
shown in the picture.

- Now you have your table runner. Clip the seams about 1/4" wide along the entire runner. Using snips made for rag quilts will be much easier on the hands.
- After your runner is clipped, wash in cold water and throw in the dryer. This is the final step and is what gives the terrific raggy effect. The more you wash and dry, the softer and more raggy it will become.

Happy Crafting!
