Here is a quick and easy Halloween Treat Bowl. What a cute idea! You can make this bowl in any size. Make one for the office, one for yourself to pass out treats or how about a little one filled with treats for that special person? Super easy to make. Great project for kids too!

Directions:

  1. Iron all fabric pieces. We used an assortment of Halloween Fat Quarters and Kona cotton in orange, black, purple and yellow. Using a ruler and the grid on your cutting mat, cut as many 2 inch squares as you can from each piece of fabric.
  2. Cover bowl in plastic wrap - you can tape into place if needed. (see photo #1)
  3. Spray the plastic covered bowl lightly on the outside with cooking spray.
  4. Mix 2 parts of Aleene's Quick Dry Tacky Glue with one part water. Dip squares into glue and place on bowl. You can do this at random or you can follow a design you have in mind. (see photo #2)
  5. Continue around the bowl till the entire bowl is covered. Check for spaces and add a piece of fabric to cover any you find. Once bowl is completely covered, paint the entire surface with the glue mixture.
  6. Let bowl dry completely (we put ours outside in the sun to speed up drying time) and then slip it off the plastic covered bowl.
  7. Turn bowl right side up. You will now begin layering the fabric to the inside of the bowl using the same method as the outside. Doing the inside layering adds to the overall look of the bowl and also gives it added strength.
  8. Once the second layer of fabric is dry, trim any loose threads. You can then either trim the top of the bowl with scissors to make the top edge smooth or you can add some ribbon to dress it up. We choose to trim the edges of our bowl. Once you are finished you can use the bowl as is, or you can spray a coat of clear polyurethane on it for a polished look.
  9. Add candy and set bowl out and wait for complements on your great bowl! Because this bowl is made with glue, it is not suitable for un-wrapped food items.

**You can use this idea for other holidays and themes. Make a red one with hearts for Valentines Day. Make a green shamrock bowl for St. Patrick's Day, etc. etc. Let your imagination run wild.
