Suggested Fabrics
Hawaiian Ghost Costume
*Read through directions BEFORE starting any project
**Prewash fabric BEFORE cutting/sewing
Materials Needed
- Yardage equation: Double the height of your "ghost-to-be"
- EXAMPLE: 5'6" X 2 = 132" divided by 36" = 3 - 2/3 yds. fabric
Adult Costume
- 60" wide Hawaiian print = 3 - 2/3 yds. fabric
- thread
- 1/4 yd. lightweight fusible interfacing
Child's Costume
- 45" wide Hawaiian print = 2 - 1/4 yds. fabric (fits 40" height)
- thread
- 1/4 yd. lightweight fusible interfacing
Finish all raw edges by personal preference. EX: serge, zigzag, turn/topstitch Fold fabric in half lengthwise, wrong sides together. Measure from top (fold) 2" down center, or place fabric over adult/child to mark for face placement. Select your favorite jack-o-lantern face or design one of your own and outline on right side of fabric. Iron fusible web to wrong side of fabric behind face markings. Cut out face design. Finish faces raw edges; EX: zigzag, straight stitch, fabric "fray" product Fold costume in half lengthwise again. Mark approximately 22" down from fold on one side; stitch close to edge for 20 - 22". Repeat for opposite side. OPTIONS: Use contrasting thread for face; stitch or stick reflective tape on sides/hem.
