*Read through directions BEFORE starting any project
**Prewash fabric BEFORE cutting/sewing to allow for any shrinkage
Materials Needed
- (1) standard bath towel approx. 28" x 51"
- 7/8 yd. Hawaiian print fabric (* hca 255 - bikini girls on beach & "bikes")
- 1 yd. cording
- thread
**For other size towels: Fold towel in half lengthwise; fold again into thirds. Measure this area; for our bath towel this area is 14" wide x 17" long. Add 4" to the length for the casing/seams; add 1" the width for the seams. Cutting measurement is 15"W x 21"L. Four (4) pieces of this size are needed for bag. Yardage to purchase is 7/8 yd. fabric, 45" wide. Larger towels require more cording yardage & smaller towels require less.
Cutting
Cut (4) pieces 15"W x 21"L = the lengths are the bag sides, the widths are the top & bottom of bag.
Sewing
- All seams are 1/2"
- Pin (2) cut pieces RS (right sides) together; measure/mark on one side 4" from the top; stitch 2 sides and bottom leaving 4" section open; trim bottom corners. Repeat for remaining (2) pieces.
- Turn (1) bag RS out; slip inside 2nd bag RS together' match raw edges at the top of bag; stitch around top leaving 4" side open. Turn bag RS out through 4" opening; slip one bag inside the other, press well.
- Top or slip stitch each 4" side opening separately. Fold down 2" from top of bag for casing, pin & topstitch close to unfolded edge. Insert cording through casing for drawstring and knot ends together.
- Unfold towel; pin bag in upper right corner with drawstring opening towards edge of towel. Staying as close to the edge as possible, topstitch across one layer of casing at bag top; stitch sides starting below casing; stitch bottom. Refold towel in half & thirds with bag on the bottom; slip bag over folded towel & pull drawstring closed.
