"Thank you very much. I just received my shipment and the substitute fabric that you recommended looks excellent."
-- Bill Sienko

Monthly Project for September, 2001

Suggested Fabrics

Hawaiian Cotton

Tropical Napkins

Materials Needed

Cutting

Trim selvage edges, fold fabric in half widthwise, and then in half again lengthwise. Press and trim edges if needed to create 20-22" squares. Cut 4 squares.

* Pre-wash fabric before sewing.

Sewing

  1. Press 1/4" towards wrong side of fabric along all four sides of square; press another 1/4" for clean finish.
  2. Stitch around all 4 edges, finishing with mitered corners. (see Karen's Sewing Box for miter tips).
  3. Repeat above steps for remaining 3 squares.

Other uses for this size square include bandanas for humans and pets or head kerchiefs for girls. All these projects make wonderful gifts - enjoy!
